It’s a remarkable moment for FEMALE as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary!

Looking back at our journey since 2013, we can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude for how far we’ve come. Over the years, we have dedicated ourselves to organizing, learning, growing, and advocating for a feminist movement that challenges the norms and paves the way for social-behavioral change, justice, and equality. Today, we stand tall, excited to unveil our new logo and identity that truly embodies our work and values.

When we embarked on this initiative a decade ago, the definitions, conversations, and landscape of feminism were different. There was a lack of intersectionality, and the focus often revolved solely around the binary understanding of men and women and the concept of gender equality.
One of the first things you might notice is that we have dropped the dash in “Fe-Male.” This deliberate change represents a significant acknowledgment of gender diversity. We firmly believe that gender is not binary, and our vision for equality has necessitated the inclusion of all individuals in all their diversities and gender identities. By removing the dash, we re-emphasize our commitment to breaking barriers and celebrating the rich tapestry of gender identities. It’s a step forward, a powerful statement that reflects the progress we’ve made in the feminist movement toward more intersectionality and inclusivity.

However, we are not afraid of keeping the word “FEMALE”, to preserve our visibility heritage and as it represents a collective history of females starting and leading the feminist activism that extends beyond the present day, even as our understanding and definitions of gender continue to evolve.
We recognize the importance of intersectionality, acknowledging that gender intersects with race, sexual orientation, class, and various other factors that shape a person’s experience. We believe in a feminism that addresses the complexities of identity and actively works to dismantle the structures and systems that perpetuate inequality and oppression. These beliefs will be reflected in developing our visual identity, including communication materials, tone of voice, colors, and graphics.

Our slogan may remain the same, but the fire that drives us has never burned brighter. We remain resolute in our determination to be louder and prouder feminists, unapologetically fighting for a world where feminist collective power reigns supreme.

As we reflect on the past decade, we express our deepest gratitude to all those who have joined us on this transformative journey and especially our members, partners, donors, allies, and champions of change. Together, we have made a difference, challenged societal norms, and pushed for progress. Without your passion and dedication, none of this would have been possible. We celebrate this milestone with you, knowing that our achievements are not merely our own, but a collective triumph for the feminist movement.

Finally, we hope you like our new logo and visual identity. Share your thoughts with us as your feedback is essential as we continue to evolve, improve and shape the future of FEMALE!
Spread the word about the changes we’ve made and the values we stand for. Share our posts, invite your friends and networks to follow us, and engage in conversations about feminism, equality, and social justice. Together, we can amplify our message and create a ripple effect of positive change in our communities.
