A Generation for Justice
On July 6, 2025, the Legal Clinic project concluded its fourth successful cycle, continuing its mission to cultivate a new generation of legal professionals committed to advancing justice for women and children in Lebanon. Since its inception in 2023, this joint initiative between FEMALE and LOYAC Lebanon has become a cornerstone for legal empowerment and feminist justice in the country.

A Vision Rooted in Feminist Values
The Legal Clinic was launched with the ambitious goal of building a legal community well-versed in both local and international legal frameworks from a feminist and human rights perspective. Its primary mission: to challenge injustices, advocate for gender equality, and ensure the law serves as a tool of protection not oppression for marginalized communities, particularly women and children.
This vision aligns deeply with FEMALE’s ongoing commitment to feminist activism and LOYAC’s dedication to youth development and civic engagement.

 A Dynamic Educational Journey
Each cycle of the Legal Clinic has welcomed over 15 participants, including law students and early-career women lawyers, from diverse legal and academic backgrounds. Over a period of several 10 weeks, they engage in an intensive program featuring:
- Workshops and training sessions on child protection laws, international conventions, and Lebanese legal codes.
- Interactive case study analysis, highlighting real-world applications of legal knowledge.
- Mentorship from seasoned legal experts, fostering both legal and leadership skills.
Cycle 4 maintained this structure while introducing new content tailored to recent legislative updates and legal challenges in Lebanon.
Impact and Community Building
Over the four cycles, the Legal Clinic has successfully:
- Trained more than 60 aspiring and early-career legal professionals.
- Provided a platform for critical feminist legal discourse.
- Connected participants with networks of human rights lawyers, social workers, and activists.
- Created a safe space to reimagine justice through the lens of feminist legal theory.
Participants leave the clinic not only more legally equipped but also more socially and politically aware of their role in building a just and inclusive society.

From Learning to Action: A Growing Advocacy Movement
Beyond workshops and training, the Legal Clinic’s real success lies in the ripple effect it’s creating across Lebanon’s legal and advocacy spaces. Today, graduates from all four cycles of the clinic are collaboratively working on a comprehensive legal draft aimed at addressing the systemic gaps in Lebanon’s personal status laws, one of the most deeply discriminatory legal frameworks affecting women and children.
Their approach is holistic and inclusive: engaging in dialogues with judges, lawyers, policymakers, and most importantly survivors impacted by the legal status system. This community-led legal reform effort is rooted in lived experience and grounded in a feminist legal lens.
This bold step marks a shift from learning about justice to actively shaping legal discourse and policy change in Lebanon. The Legal Clinic has become not only a training space but a launchpad for feminist legal reform.

 What’s Next?
With the close of Cycle 4, FEMALE and LOYAC reaffirm their commitment to sustaining and expanding the Legal Clinic. Plans are underway to:
- Launch a Cycle 5 with an expanded curriculum on digital rights and gender-based violence.
- Foster long-term mentorship and community engagement for clinic alumni.
- Develop policy briefs and legal recommendations stemming from participants’ case work and advocacy.
